East Palestine Health Research Program

I wanted to share some exciting updates from the East Palestine Train Derailment Health Research Program and ask for your help.

The program is fully live. The online health survey is open, and the East Palestine Clinic is actively seeing participants for study visits.

We would love to see more of your members enrolled. The men who were on site rebuilding the tracks in those first days had exposures that are important for us to understand, and their participation will make a real difference in what this research can show.

What participants receive:

– Up to $200 a year for participating ($25 for the online survey and up to $175 for the optional clinic visit)

– Their personal health results

– Free and confidential participation, with no insurance information collected

How to sign up:

– Online: research.uky.edu/ep

– Call or text: 330.301.7362

– In person: The Way Station, 109 W. Rebecca St., East Palestine

Worker listening session

We are hosting listening sessions in East Palestine on November 16 and 17, and we would like to hold one dedicated to workers who were at the derailment site. It is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at The Way Station. However, if Monday would be best for your group we could switch the worker session to Monday, November 16 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM. This is a chance for your members to share what they experienced and the health concerns they have, so that our research reflects what matters to them.

Would you be willing to help us spread the word and encourage some of your members to attend?

I’m also happy to send a flyer you can share, join a union meeting, or set up a virtual information session, whatever would be most helpful for reaching your members on how to sign up for the program and the opportunity to be at a listening session.

Thank you for your continued support. Your members’ voices are essential to this work, and I’m grateful for your help in making sure they are heard.

With appreciation,

Misti
